So, it is official! We are moving from our home in Ontario CA to a house somewhere in Layton UT. Yesterday our realestate agent came to our house, gave us the info on what was needed to get this house to sell (basically all we need is a new roof), took some pictures, and put the house on the market yesterday at around 3:00pm. Today we had our first couple come over to tour the house. Very cute young couple. The husband is an engenier, and the wife is a nanny. They seemed to like the house, and said they really liked the kitchen.
We had just recently remodeled the kitchen so now we have a natural looking tile floor, granite counter tops and all new cabinates and a new oven/stove top. We didn't have to knock out the walls and expand the kitchen, but we did rearange the cabinates and the position of most of the appliances so that the room flowed more and appears to be more open. The cabinates are a very pretty redish color, and we have a black granite tile countertop. Surprisingly, the tile countertop was cheaper than buying a granite slab countertop. All in all, the kitchen renovation cost 5 grand. Not bad, really. Dad installed the cabinates along with Craig Holmes, and we helped him lay the tile on the floor and countertop.
We are in the process of redoing our house roof. Unfortunately no one will insure a shake-shingle roof anymore. Which is really unfortunate. We've been in this house for 15 years and our roof hasn't leaked on us since we moved in. We have a friend doing our garage roof, and he has done a very good job. He's now going to start work on our roof tomorrow along with a few other people. We even suggested him to our neighbors who are also looking to sell.
We might be taking a trip up to Utah on Friday if everything goes well. Mom will be looking for a house while Dad works. I don't know if I will be able to drive my new car down from my uncle's house, but I hope so. It's a little two-door Honda Accord. Oh, and by the way, I got my license yesterday! I am very excited! I am now able to drive! :D
